Services

My work is specifically geared towards primarily North American based creatives (DJs, producers, collectives, lighting designers, and so on) with an established local following, considering touring or touring more widely, needing guidance on compensation and negotiation, but who are perhaps not yet ready for a full-fledged agent. Very little about the industry is obvious or transparent, especially for marginalized people and where exposure-as-compensation is the norm.  Should you need foreign Visa assistance, full-on tour management, or similar services, I’d be happy to suggest agents and agencies we trust that can address those needs best.

Verdant Foundry’s direct involvement will vary from client to client based on their individual needs, but typically will involve an introductory session where you’ll discuss setting realistic goals over the next six months to a year, and then ongoing regular check-ins around meeting those goals. At the end of this time we can then discuss what might be next - extending our sessions, self management, or recommending a full-time agent who would be a good fit. Other clients may benefit from a single consulting session or two with a more hands-off approach. Rates vary based on need, are on a sliding scale, and will be discussed in our intro call.

Note: As of July 5th 2023, I am no longer taking on ongoing clients for regular management in our first cohort. I anticipate availability towards the end of 2023 / beginning of 2024. I’m still happy to take on intro calls and do one-off strategy sessions. You’re welcome to email me to get on the waitlist once we’ve had an intro call.

Intro Call

A chance for us to introduce ourselves and understand what your goals are. We’ll discuss VF’s role, our sliding scale rates, and if we’re a good fit for what you’re looking for. From there, we’ll chat about next steps and schedule either regular check-ins, or a one off consult. Anyone interested should book this first, and there’s no charge to do so. This call is about 45 minutes to an hour and we’ll use this time to get to know each other and where you’d like to be over the course of the next year, digging into the ‘why.’ Everyone has different needs and this is where we’ll dig in to find out what those are.

Ongoing Consults

After an intro call, we’ll schedule regular check-ins (typically monthly or biweekly) that could include what gigs to take and not take, producing an appropriate rider and press kit, submitting mixes, PR agencies, fair compensation, and other similar topics. You’ll learn how to negotiate and manage your own bookings, along with some assistance from VF. You’ll also have access to regular help via email in between our sessions together.

Note: As of July 5th 2023, we’re no longer taking on ongoing clients for regular management in our first cohort. I anticipate availability towards the end of 2023 / beginning of 2024.

One-Off Consult

After an intro call, we’ll schedule a single hour to hour and a half where we can discuss specific goals and have a Q&A session around any topics you might have wondered about - booking scenarios, compensation, labels to consider for pitching your music, creating a rider or presskit, and so on. Based on our intro session, I’ll develop some strategies and likely provide some ‘homework’ to work on before our one-off consult.

Project Management might include:

  • Events to play or avoid

  • Discussing fair compensation

  • How to negotiate

  • What questions to ask promoters

  • When ‘exposure’ is a good idea

  • Putting together a rider and EPK

  • Balancing a day job with nightlife

  • Steps to joining an agency or having representation

  • Labels to shop around your music with

  • Connecting with your peers

  • Updating your social media

  • Referring you to writers, photographers, and other professionals
