FAQ

How does this work?
You’ll book an intro call, and we’ll discuss your goals and next steps. For some people, this may be a Q&A session we do once, and others may need a more high touch approach where we meet regularly and some of your bookings are being handled and filtered through Verdant for six months to a year. We might discuss appropriate venues and parties to reach out to, typical compensation, making the most out of your social media, or strategies for maintaining your health and success on tour.

Is Verdant Foundry an agency?
Not quite. I noticed a specific gap between people just beginning on their journey and those who are ready for or have a full-fledged agent. My primary goal is to set emerging talent up for success, whether that means managing yourself, or what expectations to have once you decide to be represented by an agent. My role is to guide, share, and connect up and comers that I believe in. I have a broad-reaching network of designers, promoters, agents, label owners, PR agencies and more that I’m excited to connect you with.
-
Why not just start an agency?
My strengths are around planning, strategy, and community building - rather than the logistical and pitching aspect of representing you in an agency format. Think of me as an emerging talent project manager. I want to prepare you for whatever success means to you in the long term, but in the short term, and then guide you to an appropriate agency once you’re ready, or better prepare you for negotiating and managing yourself. I maintain a small but high quality roster of folks based on the bandwidth I have.

What kind of services do you offer?
Increased transparency into the booking process, ensuring you’re fairly compensated, interesting events and promoters in smaller markets, coaching around maintaining your wellbeing, when to say no, finding balance between your day job and creative practice are just a few of the topics that we can address.
It can additionally be helpful to have a layer between yourself and promoters as part of the negotiation for appropriate rates, in the case of DJs.

What's the ideal Verdant client?
You should have an established local following in whatever your field - DJ, collective, designer, producer, or similar. You may be considering finding an agent, or perhaps only need help planning for a specific season or around your day job’s schedule or time off. You want a hands-on approach in your own bookings, but want to know what’s normal, typical, or fair. If you’re releasing music, you might want suggestions of where to shop around your tracks. You are part of a marginalized group that often faces barriers in negotiation.
